Delmar Lucas…Wood Art
Delmar Lucas was introduced to woodworking in High School & has loved it ever since. Now that he is retired he finds these unusual pieces of wood through sustainably sourced mills. The wood speaks to him as to what he needs to create.
He likes to work mostly with hardwoods and uses live edge woods, epoxy with dye, etc. He finishes the wood with oils, epoxy, varnish, etc. He used to look for the straightest most desirable wood but now looks for wood which is stressed or odd shaped which makes great art pieces and gives it character. He has created coffee tables, side tables with drawers, coasters (both with pictures and some with a mixture of woods), stools, benches, charcuterie boards, etc. Everything he creates is original because he doesn’t follow a set pattern and everyone is a little bit different.

StatementI love doing photography and working with wood and epoxy. This is my outlet for creating something that I can touch from my imagination.
