Rhapsody of a Little Dog in The Sun
Rhapsody of a Little Dog in The Sun
Angela Menzies
CA$250.00

Dimensions: 10 x 10 x 1.5
Inspiration:: The thing I pay the most attention to on a Sunday morning are the patterns of sunshine coming in through the windows. It’s where I’ll find the dog and the cat, taking up prime real estate. If I’m lucky, there will be room in the chair for me too.
Materials and Process:: Acrylic on cradled panel
The Wolf
The Wolf
Angela Menzies
CA$2,100.00

Dimensions: 48 x 24 x 1.5
Inspiration:: Her gaze is unapologetically confident. The only adornment she wears is a pair of sheer, black-and-white striped stockings that reach just above her thighs – the only focus in this dimly lit room. The striped pattern is a simple one that serves as a powerful symbol in this piece, hinting at the societal expectations and constraints placed upon the female body and her sexuality. Yet, the fact that she wears only these - choosing them deliberately - reframes them as a badge of autonomy and empowerment
Materials and Process:: Acrylic on canvas

CA$185.00

Dimensions: 24 x 75 x 0.2
Inspiration:: Sometime in my 50’s I started running out of both money and skin for new tattoos so I started carving little tattoo stamps to adorn my clothing instead. This scarf mimics the aesthetic of tattooed 'sticker sleeves'.
Materials and Process:: Lino block printed ink on linen-cotton handwoven scarf
The Alchemy of Patterns
The Alchemy of Patterns
Phyllis Schwartz
CA$300.00

Dimensions: 20 x 16
Inspiration:: Alchemy of Patterns is a lattice of interconnected shapes that might evoke interpretations within its structure, perhaps suggesting a portrait, a mask, or a face. Working in wet cyanotype offers the opportunity for surprise outcomes, a reminder of the enduring allure of the abstract, where art flows beyond the constraints of the visible and tangible and becomes more than a network of lines and merging colours.
Materials and Process:: Wet cyanotype on fibre
Patterned Persona
Patterned Persona
Phyllis Schwartz
CA$300.00

Dimensions: 20 x 16
Inspiration:: Through Patterned Person I explore the relationship between intention and improvisation. This creation is about embracing the natural dialogue between materials. During this intuitive interaction, the marks made by wet materials had the power to transform the paper's surface into a living canvas. A visual conversation emerged between calculated structure and organic spontaneity - a realm where patterns became anchors and mysteries. Here, the interplay between colours and textures hints at the semblance of a face or mask, a fleeting portrait woven from abstract elements.
Materials and Process:: Wet cyanotype on fibre
Three-Part Harmony
Three-Part Harmony
Phyllis Schwartz
CA$200.00

Dimensions: 14 x 11
Inspiration:: Driven by the allure of limitations, I challenged myself to compose a collage using five pieces, which resulted in a mystical triad of patterns explored: the rhythmic legacy of music, the structured intrigue of maps, and the boundless potential of grid paper. Here, art becomes an artifact, displaying the interplay of deliberate form and subconscious intuition, exploring the underlying patterns that connect disparate elements. This collage offers a layered narrative, with mysteries embedded in the interplay of refrain and repetition.
Materials and Process:: Paper and glue
Memoryscape – NYC
Memoryscape – NYC
Elizabeth Ashworth
CA$300.00

Dimensions: 28 x 36 x 1.25
Inspiration:: This photograph of city lights was taken in 2000 (printed in 2019) during a windy evening cruise around Manhattan. The rockiness of the boat created a colourful variety of inverted ‘v’ patterns within the buildings and their surroundings. The motion effect provided more visual interest in the repetitive blurred shapes and colours than if the photograph of this recognizable location had been taken from a still place.
Materials and Process:: Digital archival monoprint on 100% cotton canvas
Reflections – NYC
Reflections – NYC
Elizabeth Ashworth
CA$300.00

Dimensions: 36 x 28 x 1.25
Inspiration:: This photograph was taken at the Metropolitan Museum of Art during a serendipitous moment when the reflective pool was disturbed, forming a series of ripple patterns. It includes a blend of natural patterns in the ripples, water plants, and background trees, along with human-made patterns in the building structure and glass panels. Although these patterns are different, they work together visually by adding variety and balance to the repetitive lines and shapes.
Materials and Process:: Digital archival monoprint on 100% cotton canvas
Dusk on Haultain

Nathaniel Gosman
CA$600.00

Dimensions: 12 x 12 x 1.5
Inspiration:: This piece is a meditation on the weaving of day and night at dusk, contrasting local and universal perspective.

Nathaniel Gosman
CA$1,500.00

Dimensions: 38 x 38 x 1
Inspiration:: This piece embeds the sublime in the mundane, forming patterns of the two that shift based on perspective.

Materials and Process:: Interwoven photographs mounted on a panel, lacquered
Map and Territory
Map and Territory
Nathaniel Gosman
CA$2,000.00

Dimensions: 24 x 40 x 3
Inspiration:: This piece explores themes of duality symbolized by maps (theory vs empiricism; subjective vs objective; knowledge vs lived experience). In embedding an additional topographical pattern, it asks the question 'what territory does the map represent'?
Materials and Process:: 70 cedar blocks milled at different depths, laminated paper, mounted on plywood, lacquered

Sheryl Parsons BFA
CA$600.00

Dimensions: 24 x 30 x 1.5
Inspiration:: Spring outside my studio door, as the new maple leaves and Shasta daisies are in full bloom. I meet a riot of colour, shape and pattern, highlighted with the sun's glow.

CA$500.00

Romeo and Juliette
Romeo and Juliette
Linda Kirstein
CA$175.00

Dimensions: 16 x 24 x 1
Inspiration:: Birds are my favorite creature in the natural world. I've loved them and fed them since I rescued baby robins when I was a child. Birds are recognized by their shape and size, but are primarily distinguished by the patterns of their feathers. Romeo and Juliette show off their unique plumage in this whimsical mixed media diptych. The background represents many of the other patterns that I find in nature, books and music.
Materials and Process:: Mixed Media on Cradled Wood Panel, acrylic and paper collage with embellishments
Put a Bird on It
Put a Bird on It
Jennifer McIntyre
CA$600.00

Dimensions: 24 x 24 x 1.5
Inspiration:: This painting is one of a series of still lifes that play with perspective, pattern and impossibility. I had been painting invented still lifes and wondered what would happen visually if the perspective was tilted and the objects were flattened. So the tabletop goes back in space, 'sort of', because objects sit on it. But unlike ordinary perspective, the table becomes wider at the back and some of the objects don't follow the 'rules'.
Materials and Process:: Acrylic on canvas.

Janie Lucas
CA$550.00

Dimensions: 24 x 36
Inspiration:: I have a view of the ocean that I’m always attracted to paint! I love semi-abstract art with different designs throughout the painting. Usually my paintings evolve…I pick the colours I want to use and the tools I like to use and have fun applying the paint to canvas. I love the movement of this painting.
Materials and Process:: Acrylic

Elaine L Hughes
CA$395.00

Dimensions: 11 x 15 x 1
Inspiration:: The magnificent peaks of the mountains in Glacier National Park, BC form a repeating pattern of rock, slope, tree and sky.
Materials and Process:: Watercolour on paper
Maple Resin Coffee Table
Maple Resin Coffee Table
Delmar Lucas
CA$950.00

Dimensions: 16 x 20 x 36
Inspiration:: I found a piece of sustainably-sourced spalted maple wood. To preserve the live edge I brought it indoors, poured blue-dyed epoxy on it to not see through it, and coated it in clear casting epoxy. Gaps were filled with pieces of the same board to give it character. The entire top was routered and sanded to 320 grit. I used Odie's Oil to condition the wood and Odie's Wood Butter to help accentuate the grains. Legs and base was also made from maple and finished with Odie's Oil and Wood Butter. Totally created from my imagination and no pattern was followed.
Materials and Process:: Maple wood, casting epoxy and blue dye.
Journey
Journey
Steffen Preusser
CA$175.00

Dimensions: 16 x 20 x 3
Inspiration:: It all started with my granddaughter's fascination with space travel. I imagined spaceships for her and her parents to explore planets - all within the boundaries of her bedroom. The result is three different sized spaceships and three shiny planets all on a backdrop of wallpaper.
Materials and Process:: Cast polyurethane, steel, pressboard
Whispers of the Tide
Whispers of the Tide
Liz Hughes
CA$295.00

Dimensions: 14 x 11 x 1
Inspiration:: This piece is intended to evoke both the wide variety and the regular pattern of sounds that come from the ocean’s tides; from the subtle rhythmic brush of pebbles on the shore rolling back over each other, to dramatic crashes over jagged rocks.
Materials and Process:: Mixed media: Collage and acrylic
