We invited submitting artists to investigate how the repetition of units can create new understandings and interpretations by emphasizing structure, rhythm, while uncovering emerging relationships and revealing deeper meanings.

The guest juror for this show is Pierrette Vezina. Check out their work: on Instagram: @pierrettevezinaart

Dimensions: 10 x 7 x 9
Inspiration:: This fibre piece is inspired by repetition and patterns within nature, and explores linear patterns within seeds. It also explores the comfort within the repetition of creating a piece of needle felted art. Spatial synchrony (acorns ripening at the same time across a landscape) and temporal synchrony (acorns ripening in similar seasons year after year) show the sense of repetition and patterns that occur within nature and the relationship between seeds and the pattern of growth.
Materials and Process:: Needle felting wool. The cap and seed were created separately and connected with wool. The cap has a base of pre-felt, needle felted with merino wool, and the seed itself is needle felted.

Dimensions: 36 x 24 x 1.5
Inspiration:: This is a prototype sketch of a futuristic multi-family home for humans. Informed and inspired by structures and homes constructed by and for bees and wasps. Repetition is found in areas for individual living quarters yet allowing for a less rigid structure, and a softer impact in thee overall construct. Optimum organic living.
Materials and Process:: Acrylic paint and multi-media, on wood panel

Dimensions: 60 x 22
Inspiration:: Collaborative painting between Grace Gardner and Ella Collett In April 2025 we bought a roll of canvas which allowed us to begin an artistic journey together. This was the first painting of many on the adventure of figuring out our style, embarking on a new collaborative project. This piece reflects a new pattern in our relationship, marking both a beginning and end. Now there is a before and after painting. Thirty-minute sessions without talking, we would move around the canvas going over the same spots. We became a unit by working at the same time, covering and adding to each other’s brush strokes, teaching each other.
Materials and Process:: Acrylic on canvas

Dimensions: 22 x 11 x 1
Inspiration:: Time generally being all over the place then sharpened to a point on your angle or resting on my curve and confidence. I live here in 2025, ticking …tick, …tick, …tick. Numbering the days, the ways, the times I thought I was right and you thought the blue stains were from blackberries a pattern of proclamations, invasive, including the stability myth: mountains high, oceans deep. Sideways, there’s another reaction: fishermen make their meaning by slitting open the underside, the tender folds spread wide open, reading the entrails propitiously even as the shadow swims away.
Materials and Process:: Sculpture: resin on paper

Dimensions: 16 x 24 x 1
Inspiration:: I once had a job accessing the age and health of salmon by viewing their scales under a microscope. That lead me to a deep dive into scales of various fish and how they grow and function. Scales are like our skin and have so many functions to perform. They speed the fish as it swims, acts as armor, and protects the fish from injury and infection. Scales have the same function and patterns on all fish. I see the patterning mimicked in many day-to-day items, for example, how we shingle our roofs and walls. or fishnet stockings.
Materials and Process:: Watercolor on 300lb cold press paper

Dimensions: 8 x 12
Inspiration:: Amid chaos, life constructs order. The natural world seems to be marked more by chaos than ordered patterns, but, looking closely, there are hints at underlying regularities. One of the more surprising patterns is most visible in plants: the golden ratio. Its form becomes visible in sunflowers, dahlias, artichokes, cauliflower, pineapple, and pine-cones: it appears as spirals, one set clockwise and another counter-clockwise.
Materials and Process:: Digital photograph, printed on archival fine art paper

Materials and Process:: Acrylic, collage, pen and oil pastel on canvas.
